Tim Burton retrospective at MoMA

MoMA (The Museum of Modern Art in New York City) is having an incredible show of Tim Burton's drawings, art, and sculpture. You can really see where his film visions came from for The Nightmare Before Christmas, and many of his other films.

The official video has Tim talking about the show, his art, and his films, including Alice in Wonderland.

An Irish Jewish Museum in Dublin

SVG map of Ireland.Image via Wikipedia

This museum, built in an older synagogue, sits in an area that was once a Jewish center in Ireland. The museum houses information about the daily life and rituals, and allows James Joyce fans of Ulysses (whose character Leopold Bloom was Jewish) to see what life was like in Ireland in the early 1900's.

I always wondered where the name Hadrosaurus came from. Here is the answer, it was the first actual dinosaur fossil skeleton excavated that led to the study of dinosaurs (at least, according to this website).

The pineapple is not native to Hawaii as many people seem to think. It is a native of Peru and is a type of cactus.

Here is a short social history of this fruit and how it came to be linked to the idea of hospitality.
